David Bourdin from the Department of Communication gave guest lectures at Wrocław University of Economics in Poland

David Bourdin at the International Week of the Wroclaw University of Economics

The representative of the Department of Communication attended the first International Week (8 to 11 October 2018) organized by the Wrocław University of Economics. The university, which was founded in 1947, counts 17,000 students and has been a partner institution of FHWien der WKW – University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication for many years. For the International Week 14 guest lecturers from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey were invited to inspire the local students. Not only did the guest lecturers give lectures to Bachelor and Master students, but they also participated in scientific workshops with Polish researchers employed at the partner university.

David Bourdin, MSc (Teaching & Research Associate at the Competence Center for Marketing) provided the students with interesting insights into the results of an empirical study on cross-cultural consumer behavior. He illustrated his statements with practical examples, in order to make the proposed theories and models more graspable for students. The study, which Mr. Bourdin’s lecture was based on, was conducted as part of a research paper that he co-authored with Professor Attila Yaprak (Head of PhD Program Business Administration at Wayne State University, Michigan) and that he presented at Europe’s largest academic Marketing Conference in Glasgow in May 2018.

The participation of David Bourdin at the International Week in Wrocław gave him the opportunity to exchange and discuss ideas with lecturers from universities around the globe, to share his expertise with Polish students in interactive workshops and to strengthen the partnership between FHWien der WKW – University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication and the Wrocław University of Economics. This, in turn, showcases the international orientation of our University of Applied Sciences and significantly contributes to the execution of the institution’s internationalization strategy.
