Research

FHWien der WKW carries out research that is both transferable and applied. The results from our research build the basis for the high-quality practice-oriented education we offer our students. Moreover, applied research and development (R&D) is a key factor for a competitive economy. Research activities at FHWien der WKW are driven by our motivation to innovate and are solution oriented. Our researchers are in close contact with businesses and the international scientific community.

Research carried out by FHWien der WKW is organized in the Research Cluster for SMEs & Family Businesses. The cluster is made up of three research centers:

Practice-led research

The focus of practice-led research at FHWien der WKW is on knowledge transfer to businesses. We seize upon impulses and questions from companies and organizations and work on practically relevant solutions and methodically robust insights in research projects.

Research Board


FHWien der WKW’s Research Board coordinates varied R&D activities at FHWien der WKW. They meet approximately ten times a year. The Research Board is made up of at least one person from each department who is primarily involved in research, the Heads of the Competence Center Research (CCR), project leaders from (larger) externally funded R&D projects and the Endowed Chairs. The Head and the Deputy Head of the group is chosen from its members annually.
The Research Board is relevant for further development and quality assurance of R&D at FHWien der WKW. They work on updating the research strategy or suggest scenarios for the future development of research at the university.
