Growing globalisation of the higher education market demands that institutes of higher education take an increasingly stronger international focus. Thus, degree programmes tailored to the domestic market can no longer be seen as sufficient. Instead, the global market demands that students and graduates have more extensive intercultural experience and more advanced foreign language proficiency then ever before.

The FHWien University of Applied Sciences of WKW has responded to these demands with a range of international activities in line with the Bologna Process goal of creating a European Higher Education Area.

The Centre for International Education & Mobility (CIEM) provides the structure necessary for implementation of the FHWien University of Applied Sciences of WKW’s international activities.

International Activities

• Participation in international Projects in the area of research and development
• Faculty and student mobility: faculty exchange; student exchange as part of the Erasmus programme; cooperation with non-member countries; summer sessions abroad
• International networking in the area of programme offerings and degrees in the form of double degree agreements
• Internships abroad
• Internationalisation of the curriculum by means of an extensive range of English-language subject courses at the FHWien University of Applied Sciences of WKW
• Use of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
• Use of the Diploma Supplement
