The deposit depends on the applicant’s citizenship and is to be paid during the online application. The application process can only be continued and completed once we receive the deposit. The deposit will be credited towards the tuition and other fees and will be returned to applicants who either do not take up a place or who are not offered a place at FHWien der WKW.

*EU citizens covers EU and EEA citizens (including Swiss citizens):

•    Citizens from the EU and EEA states (List of EU & EEA countries)
•    Swiss citizens
•    Third country nationals that fall under the Regulation on Eligible Groups of Persons pursuant to section 2 paragraph 2 of the University of Applied Sciences Act (FHStG).

** Non-EU citizens covers non-EU and non-EEA citizens as follows:

•    Third country nationals, who do not fall under the Regulation on Eligible Groups of Persons pursuant to section 2 paragraph 2 of the University of Applied Sciences Act (FHStG).


Citizens’ nationality and the cost of the tuition fee is determined while applications are checked based on the documents sent in. For this reason, it is necessary to provide documents that make the determination of your citizenship possible.

We would like to inform you that FHWien der WKW does not cover expenses for applicants - for example travel costs or accomodation costs.

Austrian Students' Union fee

The legally binding Austrian Students' Union fee including a special contribution currently costs €19.20 per semester. This should be paid along with the tuition fee and includes personal liability insurance for students. The tuition and other fees are made up of:

Tuition fee: pursuant to section 2 paragraph 2 of the University of Applied Sciences Act (FHStG), the owner is entitled to request a tuition fee from regular students each semester up to the amount determined by law.

Studying fee: pursuant to section 38 paragraph 2 of the Universities Act (HSG 2014), the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) can request a student fee from every regular member, whereby the levying or depositing of this charge is to be carried out and checked by the owner, pursuant to paragraph 4.

Special fee: pursuant to section 38 paragraph 6 of the Universities Act (HSG 2014), the levying of a special fee to enable the Austrian Students' Union to fulfill specific tasks is permissible (for example as an insurance premium). The levying or depositing of the fee will be carried out in the same way as the studying fee (ÖH contribution).
